This summer I conclude 12 years in Orange County Public Schools (24 years if you count 1st-12th grade!).  I will begin doctoral study this fall at Michigan State University, and hopefully will be Dr. Minear by the summer of 2016.  I will also be the choir director at the historic, 125-year-old Central United Methodist Church in Lansing.  It is tough leaving DPHS; I love the kids and colleagues.  But I am also really looking forward to being a student again, and learning from Drs. Rayl, Reed, Snow, and all the other students at MSU.

My family and I are of course a little nervous about moving away from our home town, but also excited about the adventure of exploring a new place together, playing in the fall leaves and building a real snowman!  I am so lucky to have their love and support.

The OCPS choral faculty is second to none.  I feel so proud to have been a part of this incredible group of skilled, talented, and dedicated teachers.  I have learned so much from them all.  And with so many outstanding young teachers that have started their career here in the last few years, the future is looking bright for the district!

It’s been a good run.  I hope I have contributed as much as I have received.
